Dario Fo (Sangiano, March 24, 1926 – Milan, October 13, 2016) painted in mixed media on paper applied to a wooden panel.
The frame is original from the period.
The work was exhibited in 2012 at the Milan exhibition Palazzo Reale "Lazzi sberleffi e dipinti".
The work is registered in the Dario Fo archive.
Dario Luigi Angelo Fo (Sangiano, March 24, 1926 – Milan, October 13, 2016) was a playwright, actor, director, writer, author, illustrator, painter, set designer and Italian activist.
Famous for his theatrical texts of political and social satire and for his left-wing political commitment, with his wife Franca Rame he was among the representatives of Soccorso Rosso Militante. He was the author of theatrical productions that make use of the comic devices typical of Italian commedia dell’arte and that have been successfully performed around the world. As an actor, director, writer, set designer, costume designer, and impresario of his own company, Fo was a man of the theater in every respect.
In 1997 he won the Nobel Prize in Literature with the following motivation:
«following the tradition of medieval jongleurs, he ridicules power, restoring dignity to the oppressed.»
