The work depicts an evocative scene of daily life with fishermen tending to the nets along the shore and on typical boats in the foreground, while in the background the profile of the city, the coastline, and the silhouette of Vesuvius rise against a cloudy sky rendered with impressionistic brushstrokes. The painting bears a signature in the lower left corner and is completed by an elegant carved and gilded wooden frame with carved moldings.
