joana pita - Chewing Gum Mini II

This work is a set of collages on MDF and 200 g paper, where different materials, textures and shapes intersect in a composition with a contemporary-inspired aesthetic. The piece combines punch needle technique on cotton with details in acrylic paint, creating a dialogue between graphic, tactile and pictorial elements.

My name is Joana and I am an interior and product designer, trained in Design at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. I have been professionally working in the design field for almost a decade, developing projects mainly related to spaces and objects.

Alongside my professional path, I discovered in the Plastic Arts a space for experimentation and personal expression. In my spare time, I explore different techniques and materials, with particular interest in a contemporary artistic language, where collage, texture and layering take on a central role.

The paintings and collages have so far emerged primarily as a personal project and artistic exploration. Some of my works have already been presented in exhibitions, although this path is still in an early stage. Until recently, the pieces were shared and acquired mainly through my personal circle and my Instagram.

Participation in Catawiki represents, therefore, a new step in this journey: the opportunity to present my work to a broader audience and to begin developing this artistic strand more consistently.
