A cohesive lot of four early volumes of the expressionist book series “Die Silbergäule,” published in 1919 and 1920 by Paul Steegemann Verlag in Hannover.

The series is among the characteristic literary publication projects of German Expressionism, Dadaism, and the early avant-garde. In addition to expressionist authors, later the series also included significant Dadaist publications.

Condition: signs of age and use. The delicate original softcovers have browned, are partly stained, rubbed, and have edges, corners, and spines worn to varying degrees or with small tears.
