This is an original watercolor painting by Romanian artist Maria Postea, depicting a Secession mascaron ornament from Wagner House in Szeged, Hungary. The artwork was painted in 2023 as part of the publishing project "Secession Detail – A Common Heritage", developed within the broader project "Common Heritage – A Tale of Four Cities", organized by the Prin Banat Association.
"Secession Detail – A Common Heritage" explores the shared Art Nouveau heritage of four cities from neighbouring countries: Timișoara (Romania), Szeged (Hungary), Subotica (Serbia) and Odesa (Ukraine). The project documents and highlights architectural details and ornaments that reflect the rich Secession and Art Nouveau heritage shared across the region.

Maria Postea is a Romanian artist and publisher who graduated National University of Arts in Bucharest, specializing in Graphic Arts, and later completed a Master’s degree in Textile Design. Maria co-founded Editura Intaglio Publishing House with her partner and fellow artist, Bogdan Gargarita. Since 2010, she has worked as an illustrator of art books and fairy tales, developing extensive experience in watercolor and acrylic painting. Her work has been presented in numerous exhibitions in Romania and internationally, receiving both national and international awards.
Through her art, she seeks to evoke the atmosphere and visual language of historical illustrations, while bringing a distinctive personal approach to each piece and continually experimenting with different artistic techniques.
