New Conceptual Path: The tridimensional Elegy of Memory

This imposing and dramatic book-sculpture (dimensions 60 x 54 x 13 cm, weight 13.1 kg) represents the second fundamental chapter of the Maestro Stefano De Carli's monumental cycle.

An artwork characterized by an astonishing three-dimensional volumetric offset (13 cm of depth), where the trauma of past destruction dialogues with the solidity of the biological memory of the Serenissima.
The visual score and the anatomy of the work:
The installation probes the concept of collapse and rebirth through a radical material contrast.
To the right, an ancient volume is entirely transformed by the destructive action of fire; the charred and tormented pages evoke the tidal motion and lagoonal tides, pressed by five white metallic curvatures.
To the left rises a genuine erect spine using authentic original historic bricks from the Campanile of San Marco, overwhelmed by the historic collapse of July 14, 1902.

Unlike the first work in the cycle, the historical bricks – re-emerged after strong waves on the Lido coast of Venice a few steps from Villa Jolanda (the 1931 Liberty residence where the artist lived his whole life with his parents) – were deliberately kept intact in their rough, time-worn original form. After months of desalination in the studio, the artifacts were stabilized with a protective coating featuring a transparent authorial varnish finish, intended to preserve mineral residues and century-old encrustations. The clay blocks are traversed and held by vertical bars of polished brass, symbols of a new contemporary architectural foundation.

The work draws deep inspiration from the Public Archaeology context promoted by Ca' Foscari University of Venice in 2021.

PROVENANCE AND EXTRAORDINARY INSTITUTIONAL PROTECTION:

The core plastic element of this work includes authentic historic bricks originating from the collapse of Venice's Campanile di San Marco (July 14, 1902), re-emerged from the waves on the Lido coast a few steps from Villa Jolanda.
The work is delivered with an exceptional three-sheet archival dossier signed and sealed by the artist (Certificate with biological fingerprint + on-site expertise photo + photopicture (Author's Photo with the work) color technical plate of the finished installation) Official Archival Certificate Gigarte (National Archive Code). All historical and administrative documentation is provided in a certified copy in a sealed paper folder together with the work.

The provenance and legitimacy of the materials are fully transparent, documented by the voluntary declaration transmitted to the Mayor of Venice Luigi Brugnaro and certified in accordance with the LIST OF RESOLUTIONS OF THE HUMANITIES STUDIES DEPARTMENT COUNCIL OF 12 May 2021 of Ca' Foscari University of Venice (Official Public History and Public Archaeology project “El Paron de Casa”).

Full compliance with free possession is further sanctioned by the ministerial and academic scientific protocol, which formalized exemption from ordinary reporting obligations and lawfully authorized the conservation treatment of art and custody of the cataloged artifacts.
