Guillaume Corneille travels to Tunisia from 1948 to join Asger Jorn and retrace the artistic path of Paul Klee.
A drawing of great mastery in a period when the painter is very close to the architect Aldo van Eyck, with whom he is preparing a voyage of several months in Black Africa. Large format, quite rare because Corneille is often working in intimate formats in the 1950s. The Cobra painter rarely works from nature; his works often give free rein to the imagination within his studio where he reinterprets lived experiences.
A figure on a sun lounger can be seen sunbathing in front of his villa-hotel.
