"The Murmur of the Dragonfly"
This piece explores the meeting point between organic fluidity and graphic synthesis through the symbolic representation of the feline figure. Using acrylic on canvas with glazes and washes characteristic of watercolor technique, the color surface is built from transparency and the layering of light textures, allowing light to emerge from the fabric’s depth.
The visual language draws from currents of contemporary illustration, integrating the impact of contour line with a carefully crafted formal synthesis. Likewise, the piece directly engages with the chromatic legacy of Fauvism and the graphic serenity of botanical styling in ukiyo-e and Art Nouveau. The color palette presents a harmonic tension based on the use of complementary colors: the blue, cool tones of the feline and the dragonfly frame a strong presence against the warm weave of orange leaves and pink blossoms.
The cat, the central subject of the canvas, is presented not only as a domestic or natural entity but as a contemplative guardian wrapped in an atmosphere tinted by the punctuated presence of a blue dragonfly. This subtle interaction alludes to quietness, reflective observation, and the ongoing dialogue between inner serenity and the surrounding botanical environment.
