Description from the seller

SCARS / Re-build oneself
Large 3D wall sculpture - 160 x 80 x 20-30 cm
Susan Wiergo - SóloSusan - 2025
Unique work 1/1
It is not a painting. It is a body.

SCARS is a topography of pain that rewrites itself. A lifted skin from the wall that is not painted, but built. Under the plaster there is metal mesh, folded and manually coaxed, like armor that holds the soft parts. On top of it, sand, coffee grounds and plaster have accumulated layer upon layer, as the years accumulate.
The relief is brutal: between 20 and 30 cm of depth protruding from the wall and changing with the light. In the morning they are soft valleys, in the afternoon they become dark, deep cracks where the burnt coffee has been trapped. It is not smooth. If you touch it, you feel craters, folds, real scars. Every shadow you see is not painted, it exists.
Re-build oneself. With hyphens. Because it is not a verb that ends. It is a verb that is made every day, with what is there: with sand that scratches, with coffee that stains, with mesh that pricks.
This work is heavy. It weighs physically — between 25 and 30 kg, two people are needed to hang it — and emotionally. It is a piece for a wall that can support it, not only physically, but symbolically. A main wall, a place to pause.
Technique: Completely hand-modeled without molds. Inner structure of metal mesh, covered with plaster, beach sand, recycled coffee grounds and natural mineral pigments on canvas with reinforced wooden frame. Porous, matte, organic and living finish.
Signed on the back. Direct provenance from the artist's studio in Spain. Condition: New, excellent.

INSTALLATION NOTE: Because of its weight (25-30 kg) and size (20-30 cm projection), this work requires 2 people for handling and professional anchors. Suitable for drywall with specific anchors. Requires 8-10 mm anchors for concrete or solid brick. Supplied with reinforced hardware already installed on the back.
Shipped in a custom reinforced wooden/ cardboard crate, professional packaging for large format and heavy weight.
