Second commercial edition (first printing) of the classic, canonical American novel by Ernest Hemingway, "The Sun Also Rises", published by Grosset & Dunlap in 1926 and edited by the famous Maxwell Perkins.
These copies were printed from the same matrices as the Scribner’s edition, but bound differently – in order to offer customers a slightly cheaper version. Due to using the same matrices, this edition reproduces certain printing errors: the misspelling "stopppped" (instead of "stopped") on page 181 was corrected, however the copy in question retains the first edition’s characteristic errors, such as "staris" instead of "stairs" on page 169 (line 34) and "BOOK THREE" instead of "BOOK III" on page 235.
The original black covers are mostly clean, with red title labels on the front board and spine - see photos).
The covers show signs of wear, with visible corner and edge creases. See photos.
The interior is slightly yellowed (due to age), with a few stains.
