Description
TYPE I is a personal art project by Pieter Bas Bouwman, who has lived with type 1 diabetes since the age of seven. The work translates a daily reality into a visual language of repetition and rhythm.
Central to the piece is the tension between control and temptation, two forces vying for priority.
Each work consists of a box filled with insulin syringes, hand-arranged into a pattern on a wooden substrate. The act of placing them requires patience and precision; the resulting repetition evokes the routines that structure a life, whether or not diabetes is involved.
