Barbara Bartolomei - Maternità

“Maternità” represents a reflection on the origin and continuity of life through the fusion of feminine forms. The three figures, immersed in a chromatic field that slides from blue to red, evoke the primordial unity between body, spirit and generation. The dominant blue suggests the dimension of water and the unconscious, while the gradation toward red alludes to blood, birth and matter.

The figures are interconnected as if sharing a single breath: their fusion translates motherhood as a universal principle. The gesture of the hands on the belly and on the chest recalls care and protection, but also the awareness of the cycle of life. Maternity is a symbol of transmission and metamorphosis, where identity expands and multiplies, dissolving the boundaries between self and other. The line maintains a nearly calligraphic and organic quality, in perfect harmony with the intimate and introspective atmosphere of the composition, emphasizing the sweetness and sinuosity of the female bodies.

Barbara Bartolomei is a painter, lecturer in painting and drawing, trained at the Sacred Art School and at the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence. Her artistic research moves between mastery of traditional techniques and a conceptual inquiry into visual perception and the philosophy of images. Through a figurative language, her works explore the thin boundary between tangible reality and the inner dimension. She sells works throughout Europe and outside the EU, painting both on commission and for auctions and private collectors. The paintings are finished with a final protective varnish. The materials used are non-toxic.
