Vintage 1970s-style backgammon case branded Merit (Philip Morris), featuring a 70s-inspired design with mustard and brown triangles on a cork background, two dice cups, and two-tone game pieces.
Case size: 50.1 x 35.9 x 6.4 cm
Official promotional item (merchandising) produced between the late 1970s and the 1980s. At the time, major tobacco companies like Philip Morris financed massive advertising campaigns based on points collections or prize catalogs. Smokers could accumulate proofs of purchase for cigarettes to redeem home accessories, lighters, playing cards, or, as in this case, branded board games.
The Merit brand printed on the case and accessories belongs to the historic Merit cigarette line, launched in the United States market in January 1976 by the tobacco multinational Philip Morris International.
