The Virgin Mary is depicted bust-length with hands joined in prayer, the head covered by a veil or a dark mantle and a halo just hinted behind the head.
The features of the face are delicate and inclined toward spiritual contemplation, in keeping with devotional Baroque painting of the Italian or Emilian area of the seventeenth century.
