René Gruau - Le Rouge Baiser (1949) 1st printing, geen Italiaanse repro!! - 1940s

Very low reserve. Only a few copies left!
Condition A/A-.
Guaranteed original! One of Gruau's best designs.
The design of this poster dates from 1947 and in its original form it was an advertisement. The poster offered here at auction dates exactly to 1949 (as written on the printer's old roll) and is printed on paper with 2 watermarks: 1 with a stag and 1 with the text 'Bambou Japonais'.
The poster offered here is very likely the oldest printed copy of this design as a poster.
Beware of forgeries! Posters with blood-red lips, printed in the 1980s, are (highly likely) fake! These linen-backed posters also mask the lack of a watermark in the paper.
