Japanese Sendai Tsuishu Lacquerware Carved Square Plates – Set of 5 with Wooden Box

A beautiful set of five traditional Sendai Tsuishu lacquerware square plates, featuring finely carved landscape designs.

The plates are decorated with a vivid vermilion lacquer base and detailed black carved motifs depicting mountains, trees, water, and traditional buildings. The intricate relief carving and contrast between the red and black lacquer create a distinctive and elegant appearance characteristic of Sendai Tsuishu lacquerware.

Although the five plates feature the same overall design, each piece has slight individual differences in colour and carving due to the handmade nature of the decoration.

The original wooden storage box is included. The box bears a label reading “漆彫刻器 名産 仙台堆朱”, indicating Sendai Tsuishu as a specialty lacquerware.
