Tenuta San Guido, “Guidalberto" 2020
DESCRIPTION:
Producer: Tenuta San Guido
Wine: Toscana Rosso “Guidalberto”
Vintage: 2020
Number of Bottles: 2
Size: 0,75L
Grapes: 60 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 40 % Merlot
Aging: Maturation takes place in French and American barriques for 15 months
Alc.: 14%
After an autumn in 2020 that was quite rainy and mild, the winter proved very harsh, particularly due to a polar weather system that frequently drove temperatures below freezing. However, following a tentative start to spring in late March, a cold air mass brought back intense cold, with temperatures hovering near 0°C. The rest of the spring remained quite rainy until mid-May, when sunny weather finally arrived. June was fairly typical, while July was hot and dry. Hot, dry conditions characterized the first half of August, but on August 16th, a weather front brought rain and caused temperatures to stabilize at seasonal norms. The grapes reached perfect ripeness, free from excessive sugar levels, boasting excellent pulp and well-lignified seeds.
