The sea, the beach and the Katwijk light have for many years formed an important source of inspiration for the artist Cor Schaap (1968).

Cor grew up in a Katwijk fishing family. His father was a fisherman, his grandfather a fishmonger, and his great-grandfather a shellfish fisherman. The connection to the sea runs deep in his family history. It is therefore no wonder that the coast holds such an important place in his paintings.
