1x Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru 2020
The Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru 2020 from Bruno Clair is an elegant Burgundy from one of the most prestigious vineyard sites of the Côte de Nuits, bearing the hallmark of one of the region’s most reliable producers.
Colour: Deep, luminous ruby red with violet reflections, typical of a young Grand Cru Pinot Noir
Aroma: Dark cherries, cassis and blackberries, embedded in fine notes of roses, violets and subtle spice aromas such as cinnamon and nutmeg; with aeration, subtle earthy and mineral undertones unfold
Palate: Silky, voluminous palate with ripe, precise fruit, fine, well-integrated tannins and a vibrant acidity structure; long, complex finish with mineral finesse
Character: Powerful and at the same time elegant – a classic, profound Grand Cru Burgundy with great ageing potential and the characteristic complexity of the Bonnes-Mares vineyard site
Food Pairing: Roasted partridge or pheasant, wild boar loin with forest mushrooms, aged Époisses or Comté

Special Features: Bonnes-Mares is one of the few Grand Crus that spans two communes (Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis); Bruno Clair tends his parcels with the greatest care and favours minimal intervention in the cellar – the warm vintage 2020 produced concentrated, ripe wines with exceptional ageing potential

1x Gevrey Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques PC 2018
A wine of remarkable finesse, purity, and elegance! From the most famous Premier Cru vineyard in the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation, this Clos Saint-Jacques is truly majestic. Only five winemakers own a plot in this vineyard, including Bruno Clair, who owns one hectare and produces this cuvée on his eponymous estate, founded in 1979. A full-bodied, powerful, and robustly structured wine, it opens with a complex nose revealing aromas of candied cherries, strawberries, redcurrants, blueberries, licorice, and leather, enhanced by toasty, spicy, and mineral notes (damp earth). On the palate, the precision, persistence of flavors, depth, and refinement of the wine are magnificent. Superb finesse of tannins and a delightful length on the finish. In short, a great Burgundy, as balanced as it is harmonious. Decant for one hour and serve at 17°C. Sublime with duck breasts, coq au vin, rack of lamb, venison fillet with pepper sauce, beef bourguignon, or stuffed quail.

Domaine Bruno Clair is a well-regarded Burgundy producer with vineyards across the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. The majority of its wines are made from Pinot Noir, but it also makes Chardonnay and Aligoté covering the gamut of regional designations from Bourgogne and villages to premier and grand cru. Its most highly regarded sites are in the grand cru vineyards of Bonnes-Mares, Corton-Charlemagne and Chambertin-Clos-de-Bèze.

Named for its founder, Bruno Clair was established in 1979 with plots in Marsannay, Fixin, Savigny-les-Beaune and Morey-Saint-Denis. Bruno is the grandson of Bernard Clair, who established highly regarded Burgundy estate Domaine Clair-Daü in 1919.

After Bernard died in the late 1970s, there was conflict over how to divide the estate but, in the 1980s, Bruno took on several more family vineyards including ones in esteemed villages such as Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée and Chambolle-Musigny. The purchase of additional vineyards in the 1990s brought the domaine to 23 hectares (57 acres).

All the fruit is hand-harvested and organic practices are followed, though none of the vineyards have third-party certifications.
