Description from the seller
Paris, Crochard, bookseller, 1807. Original edition, complete in four volumes. This first edition is notably referenced in the Wellcome bibliography (III, 88).
Important medical treatise from the early 19th century devoted to obstetrics, diseases of women, as well as to medicine and medical education for children. The work went through several later editions.
Pagination:
Volume I: 591 pages
Volume II: 604 pages
Volume III: 564 pages
Volume IV: 531 pages
Total: 2,290 numbered pages, to which are added the preliminary leaves.
Uniformly bound set in four volumes, later bindings, brown spines with gilt titles and volume numbers.
Condition: good overall for its age. Interiors generally clean and legible, with scattered foxing. Water damage visible in Volume II, affecting several leaves but not hindering reading, as shown in the photographs. A few other traces and signs of time.
Volume I no longer has its title page; the first preserved page is the dedication to Mr. Hallé. The other three volumes, however, definitively identify the edition and the set.
Volumes II, III and IV do bear on their title pages: Paris, Crochard, 1807.
