In the 1970s Gijsbert Hanekroot worked as a freelance photographer based in Amsterdam where he had a studio (Berenstraat 18). His main assignment was biweekly music paper Muziekkrant Oor (Ear), but he also worked for daily newspapers and magazines. He did concerts, interviews, press receptions and studio shoots. It was the golden years of rock music, when the big names were making their first and second albums, working hard to break through.

Recently Gijsbert’s photos were shown in exhibitions in among others Paris, London, Moscow, Tokyo, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Bologna, Munich, Belgrade, Schiedam, Netherlands. He also published several books.
