Five-volume Pléiade edition in hard covers from Gallimard (1960–1967), with Tallemant des Réaux’s Historiettes and Madame de Sévigné’s Lettres, edited by Antoine Adam and Gérard-Gailly, in excellent condition with original jackets.
Description from the seller
Tallemant des Réaux – Historiettes, 2 volumes, full text established and annotated by Antoine Adam, with the collaboration of G. Delassault. This is the only edition of this work published in the Pléiade, originally released in 1960-1961. This edition constitutes the first complete and unretouched edition of Historiettes.
Madame de Sévigné – Lettres, 3 volumes, text established and annotated by Gérard-Gailly, covering the correspondence from 1644 to 1696.
The five volumes are kept in remarkable condition, near new: the Pléiade red leather flexible bindings extremely fresh, gold tooling very well preserved, clean edges and interiors particularly fresh.
The 5 original illustrated dust jackets are present, with only very light age-related traces visible on some of them. The photographs are an integral part of the description.
A homogeneous set and particularly appealing for a Bibliothèque de la Pléiade collector.
Important regarding editions: the volumes belong to the historical Pléiade editions of these texts, but they should not be advertised as “first editions.” For example, Historiettes I here is the 20 January 1967 impression, whereas the first impression dates from 1960.
