Jean-Pierre Collin (1935-2025) is a French painter of the 20th century who is part of the bohemian history of Place du Tertre in Montmartre.

Although his work remained less prominent than that of the great masters of the early century, he fully fits within the tradition of street and salon artists of Montmartre in the 1960s and 1970s.

Unlike the painters of Place du Tertre who confined themselves to purely tourist and figurative reproductions of Sacré-Cœur, Jean-Pierre Collin distinguished himself with a style influenced by mid-century modern and soft cubism.

His works (often created with gouache, pastel or oil) transform urban landscapes and seascapes into a sequence of linear cadences and clean geometric shapes. His representations of sailing ships or city silhouettes rely heavily on verticality.
