A Slice of History
José Luis Campos Visual Artist Spanish. Born in 1948 in Galicia. Graduated from the Pan American Institute of Art in 1974 (Buenos Aires-Argentina). Dedicated to painting from a very young age. However, only in 2020 did he venture into sculpture under the guidance of the renowned Málaga sculptor Virgilio Rodríguez. He developed techniques and concepts with recyclable materials in most works, recreating an atmosphere that captivates with the concept developed, in a constant search to find balance between what is real and what is imaginable. He tends to depict in his works a peaceful line with certain details.
In his painting, he pays much attention to a reduced palette to render a uniform work with few details. A lover of pre-Columbian South American cultures, especially Peru, he has developed there several years ago a mixed Indigenist/Abstract technique that today enjoys much acceptance among collectors. His works have generally been acquired by collectors in various countries such as: USA, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Peru, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Portugal, Italy, Slovakia, Finland, Switzerland, Japan, Greece, Ireland, Austria, France, Canada, Spain, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, England, China. He also has more than 25 solo and group exhibitions at an international level, in addition to diplomas of honor, nominations, awards and recognitions, art books, press and television. For example, the book “Historias de Pintores” by the prominent Málaga writer Joaquín Palmerola, the art book Itaca published in Soria Spain, contemporary art 2003 Sevilla Art Fair among others. José Luis Campos signs his paintings by hand on the front and back of the work and also provides a certificate of authenticity to the buyer. It is almost a challenge to describe this multifaceted artist, as he prefers viewers form their own conclusions about his work.
