Description from the seller
Oil painting on canvas, refined in the layering of colors and in the bright, light brushstrokes that oscillate from warm to cool colors.
The work belongs to a period in which the artist carried out a search for renewing a lost identity, also through mythological stories and many symbols regarding the feminine and identity.
The work represents two women performing a ritual, a dance, between suggestive elements and the dominance of direct and proud gazes.
The eyes remain the main element, along with the naturalness of a body, not perfect according to conventional aesthetic canons, not exposed to pleasure, but bearing witness, itself, to the entire message, communicating confidence and dignity, going beyond mere observation.
The work has a tall frame.
With each piece, the certificate of authenticity of an original work will also be shipped.
The works of Jara Marzulli are part of private collections around the world, as well as museum collections in Athens, Catania at MacS, in the Gaeta Pinacoteca and at the Vittoriale degli Italiani in Gardone Riviera and in Cadiz, Spain.
There are numerous publications in important catalogs of the best artistic figuration, books and magazines, both print and online, with international scope. The latest book currently available for pre-order, published by "The guide artists", gathers the whole story with images of many of the artist’s works.
"La statura della palma" published by Selvatiche Edizioni, with 15 images of her works, in collaboration with poet Francesca del Moro, can be ordered from various stores, platforms, or at ordini@selvaticheedizioni.com
Jara Marzulli
was born in Bari and graduated from the Bari Art High School and subsequently from the Academy of Fine Arts of Bari with top marks; since 1998 she has participated in exhibitions and competitions, quickly receiving recognitions, prizes and important selections.
Her figurative realist painting style quickly became recognizable and, from 2004, she began international experiences among fairs, biennials and important exhibitions.
Her art grows and tells of a feeling that is at once ecstatic and carnal, made even more incisive and moving by the technical perfection that distinguishes the artist. A lucid and wrenching expressive quality, an indefinable purity that dresses in painting, a constant play of disorientations, of role exchanges between the painter and the depicted subject.
Numerous are the prestigious Biennials and art exhibitions where she exhibits in Italy and abroad, such as in Turkey, at the Art Taipei fair, Taiwan, China at Red Elation gallery, Hong Kong, at the MEAM Museum, Barcelona, Dublin, at the Mainz Museum, Buenos Aires in Argentina, and in London.
Jara Marzulli’s figures have intense, direct, frontal gazes. They carry the dignity of subjects ready to respond with great immediacy. The characters that almost entirely occupy the canvas space manage to visually represent men, women, girls and boys who seem to recognize the observer as a stranger, sustain their gaze, push him away, and distance themselves to defend the silence of their precious inner world.
