Description from the seller

Oil painting on canvas, refined in the drafting of chromes and brushstrokes that create almost photographic nuances in chiaroscuro.
The work belongs to a period in which the artist conducted research into renewing a lost identity, also through mythological stories and many symbolisms on the feminine and on identity. Very few works remain from those years.

The work depicts two women performing a ritual, a dance, amid suggestions and the predominance of direct and proud gazes. They cover and uncover the parts that represent details of the body, as if they were challenging an external reality.

The eyes and the naturalness of a body are always central, not perfect according to conventional aesthetic canons, not exposed to pleasure, but bearing witness, itself, to the entire message, communicating confidence and dignity, going beyond mere observation.

The piece has a tall frame.

With each work an authenticity certificate of the original work will also be shipped.

Jara Marzulli’s works are part of private collections in many parts of the world, museum collections such as in Athens, Catania at MacS, in the Gaeta Pinacoteca and at the Vittoriale degli Italiani in Gardone Riviera and in Cadiz, Spain.
Numerous publications appear in important catalogs of the best artistic figurativism, books and magazines, both print and online with international scope. The latest book currently available for pre-order published by “The guide artists,” which collects the entire history with images of many of the artist’s works.
"La statura della palma" published by Selvatiche Edizioni, with 15 images of her works, in collaboration with poet Francesca del Moro, is available on various stores, platforms or at ordini@selvaticheedizioni.com

Jara Marzulli
was born in Bari and graduated from the Bari Art High School and later from the Academy of Fine Arts of Bari with top marks; since 1998 she has participated in exhibitions and competitions, receiving immediate recognitions, awards and important selections.
Her figurative realism painting style quickly became recognizable and from 2004 international experiences began through fairs, biennials and important exhibitions.

Her art grows and tells of a feeling that is at once ecstatic and carnal, made even more incisive and touching by the technical perfection that distinguishes the artist. A lucid and wrenching expressive quality, an indefinable purity that dresses itself in painting, a constant play of displacements, of role reversals between the artist who paints and the depicted subject.

Numerous are the prestigious Biennials and exhibitions where she has shown in Italy and abroad, such as in Turkey, at the Art Taipei Fair, Taiwan, China at Red Elation gallery, Hong Kong, at the MEAM Museum, Barcelona, Dublin, at the Mainz Museum, Buenos Aires in Argentina and in London.

Jara Marzulli’s figures have intense, direct, frontal gazes. They have the dignity of subjects ready to respond with great immediacy. The characters that nearly fill the canvas space manage to visually represent men, women, girls and boys who seem to recognize the observer as a stranger, sustain their gaze, repel and distance him to protect the silence of their precious inner world.
