2 parts in 1 volume octavo (21 x 13.5 cm), tawny morocco (binding of the period), smooth spine nicely ornamented, color engraving printed on the upper board, framing and colored motifs, gilt filet on the edges, golden roulette on the edges, all edges gilt, 285-[1]-iv-5 to 165-[3] pages (complete). Very good condition.
Illustrated edition with a portrait of the author in the frontispiece, excerpt from Camille Schlumberger's Portraits mulhousiens, and 6 folding plates hors-texte.
Facsimile reprint edition for Daniel Morcrette in 1981, after the 1842 and 1843 editions. It was issued in only 350 copies.
Marguerite Spoerlin (1762-1852) was an Alsatian cook. She drew inspiration from the recipes observed and prepared in her father's inn in Mulhouse, named “À la Couronne,” Place des Victoires.
A pleasant copy.
