Oval solid silver tray in 800 fineness, by Rosa M. e Figlio di Torino, measuring 33.7 × 25.6 cm with a 1.4 cm rim and weighing 471 g, dating to 1945–1950 in Turin, Italy, bearing maker’s mark 80 TO, 800 purity, Rosa Torino signature and original shop label.
Description from the seller
Splendid and elegant oval serving tray in solid silver 800, made in a refined Empire Style.
The design is characterized by strict symmetry and a classic perimeter decoration in raised gadrooning, an immovable neoclassical element that gives the piece great sobriety and luster.
The object measures 33.7 x 25.6 cm (edge height: 1.4 cm) and was marketed and produced by the historic high-end jeweler Rosa M. e Figlio of Turin (formerly at Via XX Settembre 10).
It presents perfect historical traceability thanks to the three clear marks impressed on the edge:
- The identifying hallmark of the silversmith 80 TO inserted in the lozenge with pointed ends.
- The total absence of the fasces and the republican star allows dating the object with absolute certainty to the short postwar transition period (about 1945-1950).
- The hallmark of the 800 fineness inside the oval, guaranteeing the purity of the alloy.
- The signature of the prestigious Sabaudian workshop ROSA TORINO.
On the bottom of the tray is still preserved the very rare original paper label of the jewelry shop of the era. The piece weighs a total of 471 grams.
An excellent example of Turin silverware from the second postwar period, ideal for discerning collectors or as a prestigious serving and decorative element.
