Contemporary necklace in natural lapis lazuli selected and white 925 silver, fully woven, assembled and finished by Perna Laboratorio Orafo in Torre del Greco, Naples, Italy.

THE “TESSITO” WEAVING

The necklace consists of a high number of small polished lapis lazuli spheres, with diameter roughly between 3 and 3.5 mm.

Each element has been strung and hand-woven through the traditional “weaving” technique. Unlike a normal multi-strand necklace, this technique involves the intersection and progressive construction of the threads, resulting in a compact, flexible, continuous three-dimensional body with the appearance of a fabric made from stone.

The work requires precision, patience and many hours of manual labor, especially due to the small size of the elements and the complexity of the interlacing.

The “weaving” belongs to the artisanal tradition preserved in Torre del Greco, a city historically linked to coral processing, ornamental stones and the creation of jewelry through elaborate stringing techniques.

This necklace is not a mass-produced industrial product: every section has been composed, checked and finished by hand.

INTERWOVEN WITH 925 SILVER MICROSPHERES

The distinctive feature of the necklace is represented by numerous small decorative spheres in white 925 silver, inserted directly among the lapis lazuli spheres during the work.

The silver microspheres are not a simple decoration applied afterward, but are integrated into the jewelry’s fabric. Following the natural twist of the weave, they form a luminous motif with a helical effect that traverses the structure and creates an elegant contrast between the deep blue of the lapis lazuli and the brightness of the white silver.

Their distribution highlights the movement of the interlacing and makes the necklace recognizable from every angle, adding light without altering the softness and continuity of the workmanship.

THE LAPIS LAZULI

The lapis lazuli was selected in the workshop for the intensity of the blue tone, overall chromatic harmony and uniformity of the small spheres.

The commercial designation “Top Quality” represents the seller’s professional assessment based on visual quality and material selection; it does not constitute a classification issued by an independent gemological laboratory.

As with any natural stone material, slight differences in shade, veining, matrix areas, calcite inclusions or small pyrite reflections may be present. These natural characteristics should not be considered defects.

No specific geographical origin of the stone is stated in the absence of a gemological certificate establishing it. The necklace does not come with an independent gemological report and, in the absence of laboratory analysis, no definitive statement about possible material treatments is made.

MOUNTING AND CLOSURE IN 925 SILVER

The necklace is completed by cup terminals, link rings and an ornamental ball closure, all made in white 925 silver.

The spherical clasp features a decorated surface that echoes the movement of the weave and is designed as an integral part of the design, not merely a functional element.

The white, bright tone of the silver, clearly visible in the photographs, creates continuity with the microspheres woven into the fabric and further enhances the blue of the lapis lazuli.
