Description from the seller
Very rare first edition, published posthumously by Gustave Revilliod, of the collection of unpublished poems by Marceline Desbordes-Valmore (1786-1859) which opens with these famous lines: "I know that women should not write, and yet I write..." See Vicaire, III, 198.

Untrimmed copy with leaves in overall very good condition. Tear without loss and skillfully restored at pp. 183/184.
Editorial binding in full blue cloth with gilt title to the spine and rich ornaments on the boards, very well preserved. Front flyleaves present; flyleaves also present.
