The Wilson Hammer series, launched in 1990, represented a true technological revolution in 1990s tennis. Compared with the traditional rackets of the era, Wilson patented an entirely opposite formula: an ultra-light frame and a head-heavy balance (hence the name Hammer). This configuration moved the sweet spot higher and enlarged it, allowing players to generate explosive power with a shorter swing and less effort, while keeping the racket extremely maneuverable.
