Clara Lumière (XX-XXI) - Il cavaliere ridente – da Frans Hals

Oil painting on canvas depicting a gentleman of the XVIIth century, portrayed bust-length with a wide-brimmed black hat, a stiff white ruff, and a dark jacket richly embroidered in gold. The work is an author’s copy created by a contemporary artist who is not famous, inspired by the style and painting technique of the great Flemish masters of the Dutch Golden Age, particularly Frans Hals. Lively and expressive brushwork, masterful rendering of fabrics and the sly smile typical of portraits of the era. A unique piece, ideal for collectors and lovers of genre painting.
