Jean Baptiste Biot - Précis élémentaire de physique expérimentale - 1821

Exciting two-volume set enriched with 11 and 7 folding plates of this popular science edition dedicated to the methodical exposition of the main physical phenomena known at the beginning of the 19th century -

Jean-Baptiste Biot, French physicist, mathematician and astronomer, belongs to a generation of scientists who participate in the transformation of physics into a science based on observation, measurement, experimentation and the mathematical formulation of natural laws -

The present work precisely aims to present this knowledge in an accessible and progressive form, starting from phenomena that can be directly observed or reproduced by experiment to lead the reader toward more general principles -

Physics is presented here as an experimental science in which hypotheses must be tested against facts, phenomena measured with precision and results compared in order to extract constant laws -
