Beautiful and highly decorative collection featuring five genuine polished ammonite fossils from Madagascar, individually mounted at different heights on an elegant black metal display stand.
Each ammonite has been carefully cut and polished to reveal the characteristic spiral structure of the shell and its internal chambers. The specimens display a particularly attractive range of natural colours, including warm amber, honey, caramel, cream and brown tones, with contrasting mineralised areas and clearly visible suture patterns.
Some portions of the shells also display beautiful natural iridescent reflections, with flashes of red, orange and pearlescent tones that become more evident depending on the angle and intensity of the light.
Ammonites were extinct marine cephalopod molluscs that inhabited the world's oceans for hundreds of millions of years. Their shells were internally divided into chambers, which played an important role in controlling buoyancy, in a manner comparable to the modern Nautilus.
The five fossils have been arranged at different heights and orientations, creating a dynamic three-dimensional composition. The circular black metal base provides stability while giving the collection a clean, contemporary and museum-style appearance.
