The naked body of the woman is highlighted by the folds of the drapery and the creased blanket, in their shades of white-blue. The backdrop tapestry and the rug at the bottom frame the composition with their ochre and brown tones. The bold colors contrast with the soft hues of the flesh of this beautiful sleeper, giving her all her sensuality.

Jacques Galland (born 1948) is a contemporary French painter from Allègre.
After living and working for about thirty years in Lyon, he re-established himself in his native Haute-Loire region.
He practices a painting that blends figuration and abstraction in oil: He regularly exhibits his works in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, notably in Le Puy-en-Velay. A dedicated art book, titled Jacques Galland – Dans le miroir de la peinture, miroitements et reflets, is published by Éditions Scriptoria.
