Pancho Porto - stormy days

Small-format sculpture in bronze, limited edition by the Spanish sculptor Pancho Porto.

Pancho Porto (Santiago de Compostela, 1988), began his training in the specialty of artistic woodworking at the Antonio Failde center in Ourense. At this school he had his first contact with disciplines such as carving, drawing or modeling, and, most importantly, with workshop work.

Later he enrolls in the Mestre Mateo School of Arts and Trades in Santiago de Compostela, where he studies what will later be his main discipline: sculpture. It is at this school where he already works with materials that will be fundamental in his work, such as steel or clay. In parallel, Porto continues his personal formation and investigates other materials such as bronze or resins and their multiple uses and finishes.

After this first stage of training, he decides to install his workshop on the banks of the Sarela River, very close to where he was born. It is here that he begins his particular theoretical and practical investigation of the relationship between the materials used in each work and the message they convey. This leads him to seek new proposals when communicating and narrating his story. Since then, this has been the standard tone of his works, thus adding complexity and background to the entirety of his work, with themes that touch both the social sphere and his personal experiences.
