Silver Tableware Auction

A silver cabaret (tray on legs) made by the silversmith Sebastiaan Gijsbertus de Mare from Utrecht. He was active from 1777 to 1809.

The cabaret, featuring an openworked edge, is stamped with several marks: the city mark of Utrecht, Holland’s lion, the master mark of a stag, and the year letter N for 1796.

The cabaret is also bearing a touch mark.


It is heavy and solidly made work.

There is a small crack in the edge; otherwise the cabaret is in good condition.

Not much of his work is offered.

Een zilveren cabaret (dienblad op poten) gemaakt door de zilversmid Sebastiaan Gijsbertus de Mare uit Utrecht. Hij was werkzaam vanaf 1777 tot 1809.

Het cabaret, voorzien van een opengewerkte rand, is gekeurd met diverse keuren. Het stadskeur van Utrecht, Hollands leeuw, meesterteken van een hert en jaarletter N voor 1796.

Het cabaret is tevens voorzien van een toetsstreek.


Het gaat om zwaar en solide uitgevoerd werk.

In de rand zit een klein breukje, verder is het cabaret is een goede conditie.

Van zijn hand wordt er niet veel werk aangeboden.
