The work is part of the series "Unfinished": starting from a sort of mapping of what are the inner processes of an artist’s activity, that is, the dynamics through which a work is begun, conceived and executed within the micro-universe dimension of the studio. The pieces are conceived as open activities, a stage in a continuing artistic and psychological process, always in progress and therefore eternally incomplete.
Stretchers left at the sketch stage and others where traces of rethinking and erasures become the painting’s finish.

Information about the artist:
The artist Francesco Zefferino (born in Bari in 1969) expresses, through his work, the paradox of living intense discomfort in the so‑called Society of Well-Being. Frequently using non-painting materials, the artist creates operational cycles that take the name now from drugs such as anesthetics, analgesics, sedatives, narcotics, tranquilizers (intact or powdered and mixed with the painting matter, with the result of altering it, if only chromatically and chemically). In the more recent series the human condition is configured as a metaphor, sometimes from states of anxiety, conceptually represented in moments of suspension (Unfinished) or disappearance (Invisible), and, in the latest series (Aequilibrium) inspired by Heisenberg’s principle of indeterminacy.
His works have been exhibited in solo and group shows in prestigious galleries and contemporary art museums such as the MART in Rovereto and the MAGMMA in Villacidro, the Museo della Permanente in Milan, the Ca’ la Ghironda in Bologna, the Museo PAM, Palazzo Strozzi in Florence and in major art fairs such as Miart, Art First Bologna, Arte Genova and Art Cologne. As an artist he has received the Marchionni Prize, the First International Award for Contemporary Art LYNX, the Eneganart Prize.
Some of his works are part of the prestigious Vaf Stiftung Am Main collection in Frankfurt.
