It's Didion's California: light, cars, and in the middle a woman perfectly dressed for an evening that won’t happen. She looks away. She holds on.
Red on red — the dress, the stole, the bodywork — laid down in successive glazes that distinguish themselves more by texture than by tone. Long, sharp shadows on the asphalt, as if cut with a utility knife.
