Description from the seller
Porcelain vase by Fujii Shumei — “Osorobuki — Misty Moon”
From the collection of Mr. D, Europe.
Shipped from Europe: no customs fees for EU bidders.
Rare on the European market. A white porcelain vase with a generously rounded body and a narrow neck, made by Fujii Shumei in the Arita kilns. The decoration envelops the form in a nocturnal landscape: a golden moon rises above wooded mountain ridges bathed in deep mist. The forest masses are rendered using the konoha-gihō technique: leaf imprints applied before firing create a network of organic textures that give body to the woodland masses, from dark trees in the foreground to silhouettes that fade into the mist. The gradient of deep blues toward milky tones structures the composition in successive planes. Signed piece. Supplied with its signed tomobako and its signed exhibition label. Very good condition.
