Description from the seller
Moche portrait vase (portrait huaco) from the late 20th century. This is an authorized replica of a famous pre-Columbian ceramic vessel originating from the Moche culture, which developed on the northern coast of present-day Peru between the 1st and 8th centuries AD.
A glass with a stirrup-spout neck, a classic format of Andean water vessels that facilitates the transport of liquids and reduces evaporation.
The Moches stand out for their exceptional sculptural naturalism. This specimen portrays in great detail the face of an elite individual or warrior. The dress is a cap/headpiece with geometric and wavy patterns, prominent ear ornaments (earrings) and a circular ornament in the shape of a flower on the side of the head. Ceramics modeled and decorated with two-color slip paint (usually terracotta/brown-brown and cream).
