Giuseppe Antonelli’s Collezione de' migliori ornamenti antichi sparsi nella città di Venezia is a rare 1843 Italian hardback presenting 120 off-text engraved plates of Venetian architectural details and ornaments, measuring 34 x 26 cm with 120 pages, published by Premiato stabilimento di G. Antonelli and bound in a solid contemporary binding; one copy in mixed condition.
Description from the seller
Rarest volume consisting of 120 engravings set outside the text in an oblong format of approximately 33×25 cm.
The splendid engravings reproduce architectural details from the Venetian translation, Gothic fragments and historical decorations drawn from the main monuments and palaces of Venice.
Rarity, despite numerous stains on the sheets, which nevertheless do not detract from the value of the work, due largely to the integrity and completeness of the plates; it is indeed known that countless copies have been dismembered to be used as decorative prints.
Contemporary binding very solid, as is the junction between boards and spine, as are the endpapers; a few small tears on some sheets (mostly the last ones) that do not in any way affect the full usability of the work.
A work of high collectible value.
The photos constitute an integral part of the description.
