Description from the seller
Samia Kerkeni — Verdant Embrace, 2024
Original textured acrylic painting on canvas | 50 × 50 cm | Unique work
Verdant Embrace is an original contemporary painting by Samia Kerkeni, born in 1980, a multidisciplinary artist, doctor and researcher whose practice explores the relationship between matter, colour, movement and emotion.
At the centre of the composition, sweeping green forms twist, overlap and converge in an organic movement reminiscent of leaves caught in a current. Sage green, deep botanical tones and luminous whites interact with a delicate blush-pink ground crossed by mauve and burgundy gestures.
At their point of convergence, the forms subtly evoke the silhouette of a heart. The image is never imposed literally: it gradually reveals itself through the movement of the composition, transforming the work into a meditation on growth, connection and the invisible forces that bring living forms together.
MATERIAL & TEXTURE
Executed in acrylic and textured acrylic on canvas, the painting combines broad fluid gestures with visible variations in material and surface.
Kerkeni works through successive movements and layers, allowing pigment, texture and gesture to remain perceptible. The different greens create depth and vitality, while the pale background provides a softer atmospheric counterpoint.
Seen from a distance, the composition has an immediate botanical energy. Viewed more closely, the physical traces of the artist's gesture and the variations of the painted surface become increasingly apparent.
THE ARTIST
Samia Kerkeni (b. 1980) develops a contemporary artistic practice in which matter becomes an emotional language.
Alongside her artistic career, she is a doctor and researcher, bringing to her creative practice a strong spirit of observation, experimentation and investigation.
Her work explores texture, fluid movement, colour, light and the transformation of materials. Inspired by natural forces, organic structures and invisible currents, she creates compositions in which abstraction remains connected to sensations found in the natural world.
Rather than reproducing nature literally, Kerkeni translates its rhythms and energies into colour, gesture and matter.
Verdant Embrace belongs to her Botanical Abstraction practice, in which organic forms become vehicles for exploring growth, transformation, harmony and emotional connection.
