Le Yack - Death on the Nile - Hand signed

On the wooden deck of a felucca with its great white sail billowing, a brunette woman with 1930s angular waves stands, wearing a backless coral silk gown, one hand on the mast, gaze turned toward the shore. Beyond the sparkling turquoise water rise a pharaonic temple, palm trees and the desert hills. Cushions with ethnic patterns decorate the deck. Semiotically, the scene embodies the glamour of Oriental cruises from the interwar period: flowing silk, the ancient felucca, ancient ruins — travel as a theater of elegance. The gown’s coral hue bursts like a single flame against the blues of water and sky and the ochers of the shore. A smooth, sleek finish, clear sunlit light, and an Art Deco illustration sensibility.

Le Yack, emerging French pop and street art artist. Alexandre Pelletier, known as Le Yack, was born in 1972 in Tours. During his studies, he joined the École Supérieure d'Art et de Design (ESAD) in Orleans. He is a creative director in publishing and on the web. Instagram @leyack45. He is exhibited within a network of about forty galleries in France, Germany, Belgium, the United States.
