Grand vase in fine earthenware by Boch Frères under Keralux, Belgium, 1950–60, height 44 cm, width 20 cm, weight 2.1 kg, decor Fleurs de Saxe in polychrome with gold trim, excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Magnificent and impressive fine earthenware vase created by the famous Belgian manufacture "Boch Frères" under its prestigious brand "Keralux" in the 1950s-60s. Standing an extraordinary 44 cm tall and weighing 2.1 kg, this object is distinguished by its superb presence, its robustness, and its exceptional craftsmanship. The earthenware is covered with a glossy glaze that beautifully enhances the freshness and brilliance of its polychrome glazed ceramic motifs.
Description of form and decor:
The vase adopts a sculptural double-bulb gourd silhouette (a top bulb and a bottom bulb), a classic Oriental-inspired design highly sought after in Europe. Its body is adorned with superb vertical relief fluting that catches the light. The hexagonal-shaped neck and base are subtly accented by a gold rim.
The whole is fully dressed in the famous "Fleurs de Saxe" decor, a grand polychrome classic inspired by the famous German Meissen porcelain. Characterized by a profusion of naturalistic bouquets of great finesse: generous pink, red, and yellow roses, accompanied by a multitude of small meadow flowers (carnations, forget-me-nots) in vibrant spring colors.
The ensemble is richly adorned with polychrome floral bouquets in bright colors: pink, red and yellow roses, blue flowers, irises, small country flowers, and green foliage. The bouquets are harmoniously distributed over the entire surface, accompanied by clusters of blue forget-me-nots, purple anemones, and fine greenery, standing out on an elegant ivory background.
The printed decor "Fleurs de Saxe" is highly regarded in European decorative arts; it is one of the emblematic floral decors of Boch Frères productions from the Keralux period.
