Beautiful small old Japanese porcelain cup, in Imari/Arita style, dating probably from the second half of the 19th century.
With a slightly multifoil and asymmetric shape, it features a rich hand-painted decor combining cobalt blue underglaze with red, green and brown enamels, with gilded highlights.
The interior consists of several decorative reserves depicting in particular birds, flowers, bamboos and stylized plant motifs, associated with geometric patterns inspired by traditional Japanese décors.
The back is also decorated with blue underglaze and red motifs. A small square mark in blue underglaze is visible inside the foot.
