Description

Fine set of four small antique Japanese Imari/Arita porcelain bowls, dating probably to the late Edo period at the beginning of the Meiji period, in the 19th century.

The four bowls feature a rich hand-painted decor in the traditional Imari palette, combining cobalt blue underglaze, iron red, green, and gilded highlights.

The exterior is richly decorated with floral and botanical motifs in reserves, accompanied by geometric and stylized patterns. A decorative blue, red, and gold border highlights the rim.

Inside, the base of each bowl is adorned with a small blue underglaze medallion, surrounded by a polychrome and gilded design.

The four pieces form a homogeneous set.
