Le Creusot - Cookie jar - Candy box "Fleurs et Tourbillons" - Molded crystal

A magnificent crystal sugar box / biscuit jar, produced in France in the early 19th century.

Original and rare molded crystal item, adorned with a superb swirling motif!

Production period: 1810-1850

The Cristalleries du Creusot was founded in 1787 under the aegis of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette to equip France with a manufactory capable of competing with English crystal. This manufacture was purchased by Baccarat and Saint-Louis in 1832.

One example of this sugar box is on display at the Saint Louis Museum!

Despite its age, this object is in very good condition. The possible presence of glass filaments, bubbles and imperfections is quite normal for antique artisanal glassware.
