Description from the seller

The Campanola is a quartz watch of the highest quality and precision, produced by Campanola, Citizen's luxury brand. Hand-assembled and highly sought after by collectors, this model is famous for its elaborate, multi-layered dial, which combines Swiss-inspired technical engineering with the art of Japanese lacquer. It reflects the best of Japanese watchmaking technology, a century old. The Citizen Campanola 6765 caliber (in particular the early limited editions no. 039 like this watch) is technically an analog quartz movement with grand complications, meaning it relies on a battery and a quartz crystal for timekeeping rather than a mechanical spring. However, it is structurally designed with complex physical and mechanical gear systems to drive its numerous analog hands and traditional subsidiary dials. Mechanical-style complications and multi-motor gear-train architecture: unlike normal quartz watches that use a single motor to drive all hands simultaneously, the 6765 caliber relies on several independent stepper motors. These motors mechanically drive individual gears to rotate the main hands, subsidiary dials, and calendar indicators without loss of torque. Minute-repeater module: when the dedicated push button is activated, the watch relies on a localized electronic chime module to emit a series of audible tones. It translates the current gear positions of the timekeeping wheels into distinct tones for hours, quarters, and individual minutes. Perpetual calendar gear arrangement: the date, day, month, and year hands are mechanical indicators driven by an internal calendar program. The hands advance physically automatically, correcting short months and leap years up to February 28, 2100. Mechanical chronograph integration: the watch features standard two-push-button chronograph controls that mechanically start, stop, and reset a flyback chronometer for intermediate times and a elapsed-time counter capable of measuring up to 12 hours. External architecture and artisanal craftsmanship Hand-assembled components: although it is a quartz movement, every single 6765 caliber is fully hand-assembled by master watchmakers at Citizen's production facilities in Japan. Multilayer architectural dial: the dial is built using overlapping physical dimensions, dimensional subrings, and handcrafted applied finishes (such as traditional Japanese Urushi lacquer or gold leaf powder) to convey a mechanical sense of depth. Spherical sapphire crystal: the dial is housed under a thick, heavily domed, double-curved sapphire crystal, treated with an anti-reflective coating, designed to minimize visual distortion when viewing the complex arrangement of hands from extreme angles.
