Description from the seller
FULCANELLI - THE DWELLINGS OF THE PHILOSOPHERS - 2 VOLUMES - 1960
Rare and remarkable new and expanded edition of The Dwellings of the Philosophers and the Hermetic symbolism in its relations with sacred art and the esotericism of the Great Work, by Fulcanelli, with a preface by Eugène Canseliet and illustrations based on drawings by Julien Champagne.
Edition published in Paris in 1960 by Éditions des Champs-Élysées / Omnium Littéraire.
Complete set in two volumes, Volume I and Volume II, kept in an elegant half-leather binding with a ribbed spine, gilt titling and marbled paper boards.
The work is illustrated with 43 plates hors texte, reproducing in particular architectural and symbolic elements related to Hermetic esotericism and alchemy. The photographs presented notably show the famous coffins/cases of Dampierre-sur-Boutonne Castle.
Very beautiful copy, particularly well preserved. The plates are in excellent condition and the interiors are very clean.
The printing justification specifies a limited edition comprising 400 copies on Lafuma pure linen parchment numbered from 1 to 400, 600 copies on Navarre alfa mousse numbered from 401 to 1000, as well as 100 hors commerce copies marked H.C.
A fine bibliophilic copy of a major work on Hermeticism and French alchemical literature of the 20th century.
